I built an upper for my son to use for deer hunting. I used a SRC 18" 25-45 barrel and SRC DLC BCG. I mounted a scope on it. Then used one of my AR 15 lowers to site it in at 100 yards with SRC 87 gr hot core ammo. The end results produced sub MOA groups. Bottom line my son shot two eight point bucks this year. Two bucks two shots. They dropped in their tracks. I am a big fan of SRC products. I have built several AR 15's and AR 10. Each one has a SRC bolt or BCG installed. No failures of any kind. And easy to clean. Money well spent. |

As Colonel Townsend Whelen one said, only accurate rifles are interesting. I took some time to decide what I wanted in a 25-45 Sharps barrel. I want the best accuracy, but this was going to be a hunting rifle, so weight was a consideration too. I settled on the 20" light profile, and I'm glad I did. I've been loading 3 different bullets with 3 different powders. It's an easy task to find a load that will shoot into 1 moa. My best group so far made one ragged hole from 100 yards. 3, 75gr Sierra HP in .243". |

I have always been a quarter-bore fan but I had been out of the shooting scene for a few years. I changed jobs and a coworker introduced me to the 25-45 Sharps. After seeing the how close the ballistics were to the 250 Savage (one of my favorite cartridges) it was pretty much a no brainer that I had to build one. Collecting parts on a budget can really try one's patience, but I finally got it finished the way I wanted it using not only a 20" SRC barrel, but a Balanced Bolt Carrier with Reliabolt as well. The barrel shoots great and the bolt is tough as nails. |

I am not a young man, was in Nam in 68-69, and the Army issued the M16, (mattel toy) as everyone knows in the 223 cal. After seeing several of my friends killed as a direct cause of the M16, and numerous jams because of loading 20 instead of just 18. ( it would stovepipe every time if loaded with 19 or 20 rounds) I could not stand anything that looked like the M16. |

This is my second SRC 20" 25-45 barrel. Both are exceptionally accurate. Finish on both barrels were perfect. My Redding dies are still producing resized .223 Remington brass to exact 25-45 spec's in the 2 years I've had them. Reloading remains a joy, especially for this cartridge. Both A2200 and H335 remain the best performing powders (for my barrels). 87 grain SPFB and 90 grain HPBT have been the mid and long range bullets of choice. Texas hogs and deer have been taken 100% successfully with both loads. |
